The Federal Accreditation Service (Rosaccreditation) joined the Multilateral Mutual Recognition Arrangement of the International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC MRA). The news was announced at the session of the International Accreditation Forum (IAF) General Assembly and International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC) in Vancouver.
During the official ceremony, Alexey Khersontsev, Head of the Federal Accreditation Service, was handed the Mutual Recognition Arrangement of the International Testing and Calibration Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ISO/IEC 17025) signed by him and Merih Malmqvist Nilsson, Chair of ILAC. Savva Shipov, Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Chief of Rosaccreditation, was also in attendance at the ceremony.
Rosaccreditation was able to enter the ILAC after joining the Mutual Recognition Arrangement of the Asia Pacific Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (APLAC MRA).
“Being a member of APLAC MRA opens up new opportunities for Russian exporters giving them access to the Asia Pacific region and other countries worldwide. Rosaccrediation is now a part of the global cooperation. All laboratories approved by Rosaccreditation will now be able to use the ILAC MRA mark on their protocols. The ILAC MRA mark will make it easier for Russian exporters to promote their products as it is a prerequisite for testing results to be recognized internationally,” Alexey Khersontsev said.
“International recognition of the Russian accreditation system is a crucial step towards enhancing the quality of compliance assessment and facilitating the Russian exports. Many people have spent 6 years working on this project. I would like to congratulate them on the amazing result and thank them for their dedication,” Shipov added.
As a next step, Rosaccreditation is poised to sign a similar agreement with the International Accreditation Forum and make intergovernmental agreements with countries that are Russia’s trading partners.
Rosaccreditation became the 92nd member of ILAC MRA which brings together 92 accreditation agencies across 95 countries and implies mutual accreditations recognition in a specified field based on the identical compliance assessment procedures used by accreditation authorities. ILAC MRA is an important tool widely used by national economies for promoting their products in international markets.
